~ Welcome back for the start of another fantastic school year at Bill Roberts! I am looking forward in starting my 6th year in the Stapleton community and look forward to working with our returning as well as new students. Many of you are already familiar with my physical education philosophy. For those of you who are not…an explanation is provided by clicking on the 2008-2009 PE Program link. You are welcome to visit my classroom anytime, but please keep any questions or concerns, needing my attention, to be conducted outside of instructional time. My schedule is located in the gym (next to my office) as well as in the main office. The school phone number is listed on the 2008-2009 PE Program information sheet. You are always welcome to call me anytime. I will return your call as soon as possible. I usually check my messages at the end of the day. Thanks again for supporting your child’s educational needs. I look forward to meeting with you sometime this school year.
~P.E. Newsletter September 2008 - P.E. Website: All p.e. information along with newsletters is located on the p.e. Website. Student videos and pictures as well as a number of valuable and beneficial health, fitness, nutritional, and activity links are also located here. To access… simply go to the Roberts webpage, click on Ms Salter and the links appear on that page. - P.E. Information Sheet/Activity List: Located at the front office window. Help yourself. All of this information is located on the p.e. webpage as well. - After School Activities: As the info. sheet mentions, I did not receive the LOAS Grant for my after school program this year. As a result, I will not have any after school activities for this school year. - P.E. Funding: The LOAS Grant not only provided me the opportunity to offer after school programming to your children but also allowed for the purchase of p.e. equipment. As some of you may know, we have been playing “catch up” in terms of having the necessary and basic resources/equipment needed in order to provide our students with a quality physical education experience. When Roberts opened three years ago, there was hardly any p.e. equipment. This year, with assistance from the PTA, a committee was established to raise funds for the physical education program here at Roberts. Emily Bovard will be heading up this endeavor. I am continually grateful and amazed by the incredible efforts of our PTA with all their hard work and devotion in raising funds for our school. I can not thank Emily, the parents, and the PTA enough for always supporting the various programs here at Roberts. - Recess/Runners Club: The Runners Club was a structured running activity that I established during my recess duty a few years ago. I do not have recess duty this year. The funds used in paying for the t-shirts as well as shoe tokens also came from the LOAS grant. As of now the club is on “temporary hiatus”. Hopefully it can be “resurrected” in the near future. The recess equipment also came from the p.e. department. Three playground balls, two footballs, three basketballs, a soccer ball, and over 20 jump ropes were contributed to start this school year. The students were reminded about taking care of this equipment because I could no longer afford to use equipment from the p.e. program to supply recess time. I know you understand the necessity for this. If you would like to donate basketballs, footballs, playground balls, or soccer balls…please bring them to the gym and I will put them in the recess bucket. Please feel free to call if you have any questions. Thanks again for encouraging your children about physical, mental, and emotional fitness! Ms Salter 720-424-2656
